Over the last two years in particular, I have magnetized many new students of astrology, master teachers and lightworkers from around the globe. Cross Quarter / Lammas ~thru~ ~ September 22, 2009 ~ Fall Equinox
This period is all about *PRESERVING* what is growing strong, solid, useful and nourishing ... while releasing density, weight and excess to be composted in to something more useful in the season to come. It's a time of gratitude and celebration, in anticipation of the Fall Equinox Season of Harvest. Some call this the Pre-Harvest. You can get a jump-start on assessing the year if you've completed your "clearing and releasing" process. If not, this is the final *purge* in preparation for the Harvest Season.

*Let's infuse the word "hunt" with another aspect of one of its original meanings from Circa 1200: "General sense of "search diligently" (for anything) as first recorded c.1200" ... as the Divine Feminine aims her magical arrow at her most precious dreams, that both may connect, and bring something new & delicious to this 3-D realm.*
This Season ... the *3* most important things happening are as follows:
Remember that Mercury Retrograde's reputation for delays, miscommunications and mechanical or technical difficulties is only the Universe's way of pushing you away from outward expression to inner communication. Mercury does this, typically, 3 times a year ... this year, 2009, you get 4 chances to review your own thoughts, ideas and concepts. That is a *BLESSING* ... note, I did not say "convenient" but a blessing nonetheless, as it affords you a schedule of sorts that you CAN plan for (and I do now). This is the time of year, every year, you should plan some quiet time to *PROCESS* your individual / personal world. Mercury's domain: processing information that you've gathered through the use of all *6* senses. 2008's Mercury Retrograde periods, which were ALL in AIR Signs, really got the ideas, concepts, patterns of thought, as well as how we communicate and express ourselves, stirred up and activated. This year, 2009, they are split between AIR & EARTH, giving us an opportunity to *BLEND* them by applying some of what you've learned in 3-D / Real Time ... okay, gather more information with the results that produces ... leading you to 2010 when ALL EARTH Signs are activated and then it will be how you anchor these brilliant ideas that requires review and gathering of new information.
2009 Mercury Retrograde Periods 2009 brings Pluto's first full year in its new home for the next 15+ years, Capricorn. Remember when any planet changes signs, there is a huge concentration of energy during the months (or years) surrounding the shift, before and after the sign-change. Also, think of the new sign as a response to the last sign. In this case, Pluto's purification of Sag required all that has become toxic around your belief system, what you hold to be "true" and the general "story" to be brought up from the Underworld (of your life or consciousness) to be cleansed and born anew. The response to "believing" or "faith", in the extremes that Pluto reveals, is Capricorn's "dedication" to "making it REAL or tangible" ... AND ... making it serve all involved. So we leave 13+ years of fiery, creative, expansive ideas (Sag/Gemini) as well as exposure of all that is but a 'toxic mimic' of what you actually intended to create ... for the hard work and dedication of bring the purified and reborn Truth in to tangible reality and form with a larger purpose.
So Pluto's first Retrograde in Capricorn ~ how's it going? What aspects of your personal foundation, structure, responsibilities and heart-centered work have you reviewed for cracks and weaknesses? Pluto influences your individual chart but it is a very slow process, so like the other outer planets, it affects large groups of people (generations). Look to your generation for this current lesson, what is it that you all have in common? The individuals who will be most transformed by this 16-year process will be Cancer/Capricorn and Aries/Libra (not to say there isn't something for everyone, but we're talking just Pluto here). If you have ANY of these signs prominently placed or being expressed by one or more planets, then you have an unprecedented *OPPORTUNITY* to change your Being as well as the world around you. If you are committed to clean (pure) business practices and producing real results in your endeavors, then Pluto lends its tremendous power to your cause and connects you to Infinite resources within and around you. If you are looking to make "big money" on the backs of, the ignorance or misfortune of others, operating like a faceless corporation, only in it for profit, then Pluto's purifying fire will definitely BURN! It's time to clean up your act on the deepest possible levels. Keep in mind, that just as corporations "relate" to the collective ~ on a personal level ~ becomes how individuals "relate" to each other ... with integrity or deceit for personal gain? Pluto brings the gift of getting you present to any residual karmic "sticky stuff" you have yet to clear. Stay strong, do what you can and call on your Invisible Help to assist in all processes.
The third big event of this particular season is Act 3 of the Saturn/Uranus opposition. This is an on-going aspect affecting everyone, but my Virgo/Pisces and Sag/Gemini people are being activated the strongest by this one. Out with the OLD ... in with the NEW. You are cracking your shell - breaking out of the chrysalis - shedding your skin - freeing your Self from previous (real or perceived) limitations. I remind you here of an old Wayne Dyer illustration (paraphrased): stretch something TO its limits and it will snap back UNCHANGED ... stretch it BEYOND its limits and it is NEVER THE SAME AGAIN!! Anyone feeling pushed PAST their personal limit yet? Act 3 ought to bring that right on in to focus!
*Reminder* Saturn Oppose Uranus ~ This is a Collective Activation that will *ping* us 5 times over a 2-year period (2009-2010) and it made me think of the "5-Act Structure" of a theatrical performance. As Mercury (ideas, thoughts, concepts, communication, voice) connects with the Sun (identity, essential nature, source, illumination) and they both connect with Saturn (definition of reality, foundation, structure), all in Virgo, suggests a major healing and anchoring of who you are and how you express your Truth & Purpose, on many levels. Mercury doesn't hang around very long, but because of the Retrograde, it is going to contact Saturn *3* times over, soon (8/17) ... it will Retrograde and contact Saturn behind the scenes (9/22) on Fall Equinox, a potent time to "assess" all of the above ... and then go forward for one final "walk through" (10/8). Basically, you are looking at a 2-month Mercury Process of the Libra lesson of Balance & Beauty and the Virgo lesson of Trust & Discernment. Ultimately, you should use Saturn to anchor these new ideas and your Sun to express them in your own unique way.

~ BALANCE & COMPROMISE ~ (Oppose/Opposition)
May as well continue to lead with Mercury as this little Trickster is in on ALLLLLL the action this particular season! As it aligns next to Saturn, it beams across to Uranus. Mercury and Uranus are higher and lower octaves of similar energy: CONSCIOUSNESS. Mercury represents our lower Human level of consciousness and understanding, as perceived through our narrow scope and limited perspective, whereas Uranus represents all of Humanity and its potential to AWAKEN and actually perceive our role in the Universe. As planets are discovered, humanity's reach extends even further. There, very likely, are many planets beyond Pluto, however, what we haven't connected with, we are probably not ready for and/or cannot process at this time. The 10 planets, 5 primary asteroids and countless other known celestial bodies is what we are currently working with. These bodies interact with and communicate with Mother Earth all the time in an eternal dance. This naturally shapes us and moves us around too.
This particular integration process happens about once a year and has been on the Virgo/Pisces axis since Uranus entered Pisces in 2003. You are getting about 7 years to balance and integrate your consciousness and the Virgo/Pisces lessons of Discernment & Trust ~ Healing & Wholeness ~ Science & Spirituality ~ Human & Divine. Every time Mercury and Uranus connect at all, you are encouraged to think outside the box or somehow radically shift your thinking and how you process information. This can be a stroke of brilliance or you can blow your circuits (sometimes both). Water (Pisces) is a conduit for electrical (Uranus) energy and Earth (Virgo) can ground it, so I say, *EXPERIMENT* with giving your Brilliant Flow (Water) ... a Strong Structure (Earth) to guide it toward a worthy goal, whether it is as small as your thought or as large as ENLIGHTENMENT!
Again, you must also take in to consideration that Mercury Retrogrades during this time, so like the Saturn activation, Uranus will be activated *3* times over. It will initiate first contact soon (8/21) ... it will Retrograde and contact Uranus who is already Retrograde, behind the scenes (9/23) ... and then go forward for one final "walk through" (10/4). Remember, life can change, reality can shift in the 'blink of an eye' (lightning) but cultivating your Consciousness so you can respond appropriately is ultimately what this alignment supports. Keep in mind this combo can also send electrical surges through the body, and every event or activation is essentially preparing you for the next one coming so get the most out of each one when you can. Use all the intensity and rapid succession of activations as *FUEL* to clear what needs to be released and create a Sacred Space for your new ideas and modes of expressing who and what you are (Mercury) to reflect your newly integrated Consciousness (Uranus) and be rooted/anchored in the here and now (Saturn).
Mercury/Uranus ~ Virgo/Pisces
Sun and Venus in Leo are integrating the Healing Trinity in Aquarius, all still only one degree apart from each other. Venus in Leo, the first FIRE sign since her rebirth in Aries, says it's time to get *CREATIVE* with the *NEW* You! Based on what you've healed so far, how have you and your priorities changed? This is a rare opportunity to have these primary aspects of your Being and life on Earth (Sun/Venus) integrate this major *HEALING*! Jupiter expands your consciousness and teaches lessons that take 12 years to complete. It will be 50 years before Chiron hits Aquarius again and 165 years before Neptune returns to Aquarius. Just imagine the Infinite Wisdom which brought this alignment, of all three plus the North Node, forth at this precise time in Humanity's evolution.
Sun+Venus/Jupiter+Neptune ~ Leo/Aquarius
When the Sun moves from Leo in to Virgo, it's going to connect with Saturn (9/17 ~ redefining who you are) and they'll both oppose Uranus two days apart (Saturn: 9/15 and Sun: 9/17) which suggests the integration of the *NEW* is underway ~ within both your Being (Sun) and your 3-D reality/world (Saturn). Because Uranus is Retrograde, I'm inclined to think of this as an "internal re-wiring" before you will be able to positively affect your reality (Saturn). This is the continued work of releasing the last 20-43 years, creating a space for new patterns to anchor (Uranus) and consciously (Pisces) working with the energies to heal your Being (Sun) and your relationship (Venus) to Mother Earth.
Sun, Saturn in Virgo / Uranus Retro in Pisces 9/17 ~ Sun/Saturn in Virgo (conjunction)
Mars is connecting with Pluto AGAIN! Remember last December 2008? That was the one and only month of the entire year that all the planets were FORWARD and Mars joined Pluto in Capricorn ... those two planets getting together only happens about every 2 years. So with Pluto in Capricorn for 16 years, that gives you *8* opportunities ~ in your ENTIRE LIFETIME ~ to really work on balancing and integrating your Lower Will (Mars) & Higher Will (Pluto) in Capricorn: Your Inner Authority, Your Desire for Heart-Centered Work, Your Contribution to Society, Your Passion for Freedom and Justice, Your Basic Human Rights. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, like so many other alignments in the years to come, to TRULY *PURIFY* and *DISTILL* your deepest desires to be truly independent, effective and self-sufficient, making you better able to make a worthy contribution to society. Those who cannot get their Lower Will *in-check* are going to find this a very tough 16 years.
So, technically, December 2008 Initiated this 8-Part Series of Mars/Pluto contacts. Now, let me take you back a little further to September 2007 - March 2008, when Mars Retrograded in Cancer (Mars Retrograding is another thing that only happens about every two years). It spent 7+ months in Cancer *PREPARING* you for this very alignment. Review your journals and notes for that time period and you're sure to find that what reached peak energy / critical mass / or imploded around September 2007 - March 2008, the dust finally settled on by December 2008, which *Initiated* the new Capricorn building work for Mars and Pluto (and YOU!) ... here's the basic 2-year cycle you can expect for 16 years to come.
*Mars spend about 2 months in each Sign, so you can expect these to be 2 month "processes" each time.
*12.28.2008 ~ INITIATION ~ Transformation of your deepest desire nature *4.26.2009 ~ FIRST TEST ~ Pushes you to make choices and grow
*8.26.2009 ~ INTEGRATION ~ Pushes you to balance/integrate all you've learned
*7.31.2010 ~ FINAL TEST ~ Pushes you to complete the work - the better you "make choices and consciously grow" at this stage will determine how intense the next phase will be.

*Note ~ I am developing a class for this, stay tuned, but in the meantime, journaling may prove invaluable when you have this first two years behind you and you want to reflect on how/when this cycle started. Remember, very often, how you START is how you END ... and you always have a choice as to how much or how little you invest in your OWN POTENTIAL & WELL-BEING. This class will be for those highly motivated and consciously working with the energies on a consistent basis and are serious about getting results sooner than later.
A final thing to remember about this year and Mars' movements is that it Retrogrades in December 2009, which it only does every two years. Last time was Cancer, this time, the extended stay will be in Leo. More on that later ...

~ OPTIONS & ADVANTAGES ~ (Sextile)
This energy requires conscious intent to be productive but you have a couple of great opportunities to tune in to this season. Early August, when Mercury is in Virgo, it will activate Venus in Cancer, blending Earth & Water, which generally works well together. This is an opportunity to fine-tune your ideas with particular focus on making them 'nourishing' (Cancer). What are you 'hungry' for? What are others 'hungry' for that you can provide? This is also a chance to make your health and healing SACRED again (Virgo). Later in August, the players are the same but the elemental expression shifts to AIR & FIRE, Mercury in Libra & Venus in Leo ~ well, this combo goes straight for your love life and/or significant relationships (public or private). How's the communication? Is it time to lighten up and play a little? This is a chance to get your ideas and your priorities in alignment so you can express your own unique flare and style.
Mercury/Venus
Mercury connects to Venus (8/7) then with Saturn in Virgo (8/17), then soon after Venus connects directly with Saturn (8/19) so it looks as if the ideas and thoughts about the structure of your relationships, or healing them, is on the table. This is an easy connection between Earth & Water again, Cancer/Virgo. Venus is our priorities and values, Saturn is our definition of reality and our structure. In these signs, it suggests that you need to *NOURISH* and *HEAL* ~ your priorities (Venus) and the structure of your life / your reality (Saturn) (on the deepest levels) so that it reflects what you truly care about. This is what is supported at this time. Venus/Saturn ~ Cancer/Virgo 8/19 ~ Venus in Cancer / Saturn in Virgo The other opportunity cooking is Sun in Leo, connecting with Mars in Gemini (FIRE & AIR). These two planets together are *COMBUSTIBLE* so be sure to take advantage of this easy going contact to DIRECT the energy in to unique, creative ideas of your own (Leo) and EXPRESS them! (Gemini) Watch the ego, in yourself or others, but otherwise, this should be a productive contact which connects your identity and your deepest desires. How are they both shifting/evolving at this time? ~TOP~ (Square)
Mercury stirs things up here too! So your thoughts should be closely monitored especially because now it is in a tough angle to both Mars (Lower Will) and Pluto (Higher Will). And with Mercury's Retrograde, again, the impacts are multiple (with Pluto anyway). Early this season, Mercury in Virgo will tag Mars in Gemini (8/25), really stirring the mental gymnastics, whether you turn it on yourself or others, watch what you think, say and do during this time. Later this season, when Mercury moves in to Libra and Mars moves in to Cancer (9/3), then feelings can get really hurt and people can be super-irritable. A better use of this energy is to pull back (Mercury Retrograde) and commune within. Mars rules your desire nature, what you are passionate about and what gets you fired up, so this is when your mind may get you all riled up, when the reality is much different. A better use of this energy is to reflect on what you really WANT in your relationships (personal or professional) and take action. Squares should be celebrated! they bring the friction that forces you out of your comfort zone, usually in to new territory, where new choices and decisions must be made. Make them and move on - talking them to death is not getting you any closer to your goal.
Mercury/Mars 8/25 ~ Mercury in Virgo / Mars in Gemini
Now, it's important that you watch the Mercury Retrograde as it tags Pluto in particular. The goal of this contact is to purify your thinking or thought patterns. But in order to do that, it may have to bring the dark stuff to the surface of your consciousness to clear it! This is Libra/Capricorn energy and lessons, so responsibility in relationships, balance and re-negotiating soul contracts. Choices, decisions and crossroads to deal with on many levels and you have almost 2 months of energy, then the dust will settle and you'll have more clarity about how to move forward. Remember that Mercury rules how you express yourself and Pluto is *PURIFYING* that expression in Capricorn, asking - well, demanding - that you take responsibility for your thoughts, words and deeds.
Mercury/Pluto ~ Libra/Capricorn 8/26 ~ Mercury in Libra / Pluto in Capricorn Sun (identity), Mercury (voice) and Mars (desire) are all activating the Saturn/Uranus ongoing transit (old/new), making that collective message very personal at this time. Venus in Cancer is actually in a good position to both, Saturn & Uranus, so the antidote (if there is one) is to feed your creativity, do some form "nesting" ~ make your space *SACRED* again. Venus in Cancer says, "ALL LIFE IS *SACRED*!" The friction Saturn/Uranus are the channel for ~ is pushing you to redefine who you are (Sun), what you want (Mars), and how you express (Mercury) that in fresh, innovative, useful, new ways! Also, the way Mars is activating the Dynamic Duo (Saturn/Uranus) is what is called a T-Square, so picture a real *CROSSROADS*. Essentially, you have traveled as far as possible on this particular Path, and now you must choose a new direction where your desires (Mars) and how you express (Gemini) them are both concerned. You're at a turning point, you cannot continue the same way as this Path has come to a dead-end or completion of sorts. This alignment pushes you to finally admit which of your deepest, probably long-held, desires is NOT going to happen (Saturn), at least not in the current form, and which of your *PURIFIED* desires can you build on going forward (Uranus).
Mars/Saturn+Uranus ~ Gemini/Virgo+Pisces 8/10 ~ Mars in Gemini / Saturn in Virgo
Please note that moving consciously through the Mars transit, clarifying what you really, deeply want for your life, is preparing you for when the Sun moves in to Libra activates Pluto on Fall Equinox. This is the ground work for that. You have to clear out the old, create a space for the new, set an intention, clarify your needs, desires and the vision for your life and community, *THEN* the Sun will move in for a month of Libra *BALANCING* and *INTEGRATION* where your identity, within the context of relationships, is concerned. This powerful Pluto purification is getting everyone present to what really is or is not their individual responsibility within each relationship, within the group, within the community and as part of the human family.
Sun/Pluto ~ Libra/Capricorn 9/23 ~ Sun in Libra / Pluto in Capricorn ~ this will be covered in more detail in the Fall Equinox forecast, but you should prepare *NOW*. (Trine) I always save the *BEST* for last! Mars in Gemini is tagging the Healing Trinity in Aquarius, Jupiter (8/13) and Neptune (8/17). Now the thing about "blessings" is you have to be grateful and the way you can show this is by consciously directing this smooth, subtle energy. You could miss the perfect opportunity to *HEAL* your desire nature (Mars) in a profound and permanent way that will make the above-mentioned activations much easier to handle. What you really want is probably changing. Many are finding that they may still want the same thing(s) but the "form" has been further distilled by the life-changing activations going on at this time. Do you want to heal? Do your wounds define you? Who are you without your wounds? Marinate that! *SEE* ... and ... *FEEL* ... perfect, whole and complete! (It may take some practice!)
Mars/Healing Trinity ~ Gemini/Aquarius 8/13 ~ Mars in Gemini / Jupiter in Aquarius
During the current season, Venus in Cancer is going to tag Uranus in Pisces, creating some delicious and magical *FLOW* (Water/Intuitive/Empathic) and then when Venus moves in to Virgo, it is going to tag Pluto in Capricorn, aligning your priorities in ways you couldn't do alone!! This will give that *FLOW* a much needed, and perfectly adequate *STRUCTURE* (Earth/Pure/Practical). Yummmmm!
Venus rules our values, priorities, art, beauty, love and resources. Uranus rules your awakening, your enlightenment, that breakthrough - that 'AH-HA' moment. And Pluto rules death, rebirth and transformation. This season you are brilliantly supported to make these major shifts *SMOOTHLY*! And because you are changing, your relationships are automatically going to have to shift, and this is not necessarily a "bad" thing. There may also be unprecedented synthesis between you and someone close.
Venus/Uranus ~ Cancer/Pisces Venus/Pluto ~ Virgo/Capricorn 8/22 ~ Venus in Cancer / Uranus in Pisces
Now while the Sun is in Virgo, that grounded, earthy, healing energy (calibrating your essential Being) it will be greatly supported by Pluto in Capricorn. You are going heal and integrate on deeper levels now and you have a month to work mojo with this energy. This is preparing you for the challenges coming when Sun moves in to Libra and you have to come out of isolation or healing your Self and deal with or work with other people who may or may not recognize the *NEW* You! Breathe, be compassionate, remember that just because you've changed doesn't mean a memo went out to all your people. But DO take advantage of Aug 23-Sept 23 ~ to work this Source energy (Sun) where Virgo healing, unifying energy is concerned. This will shine replenishing sunlight on whatever House(s) Virgo rules in your chart.
