*Samhain* ~ Cross Quarter ~ Gate of Power ~ Honoring the Invisible Assistance ~ This completes the *8* Sacred Seasons of the Solar Year. You've done all you can do for the last 10+ months and now you must surrender. You have been intuitively guided and completely supported the *WHOLE* time ... whether you were aware of it or not. All seasonal shifts call your attention to *BALANCE* and remind you to, periodically, *TUNE IN* ~ to your Heart, Mother Nature and Great Spirit. This is the time of year for *CLOSURE* ~ within and without. The Cross Quarter Seasons (between each of the Solstices and Equinoxes) have long been considered to be *Gates of Power* ~ a threshold that offers access to other realms of existence, other Dimensions which are relevant and connected to our 3rd Dimension. During this time of year, reflection on the past and rumination on the future commingle. The angels, ancestors and spirit guides should be honored and will be more accessible for communing. You can ask for their guidance on the lesson and purpose of certain events/experiences of the past year and/or you can ask for guidance on how to proceed during the coming year. After completion, clearing and release, it is an especially good time to *SIT* with the Empty Space for a period of time. This is a Infinitely potent time ~ "in between" ~ a place, also referred to as the "Sweet Spot" - that very thin membrane between *SEED* and *NEW* Life. Plant your seeds of the future during this dark time and be still, listen, invite *LIFE*. This 6-week period prior to Winter Solstice (in this hemisphere) has the longest nights, implying rest, work behind closed doors and moving through any darkness. It is time to restore strength and prepare for the Light's return Dec 21st, when life will again begin to quicken below the surface.

This *Sacred Season* is About:

 

           

It is a time to 'Honor the Dead' which can apply to friends and family who are no longer on this plane of existence with us, though their essence never dies, it does become more easily accessible at this time. Or it can also apply to your Being, your creative projects, cycles in your life that are now complete. In between a completion and an initiation of a new cycle, project or part of your Self, a 'time-out' ~ rest ~ reverence ~ reflection are all highly recommended.

  

Also, Samhain (pronounced sa-win) is the last of the *8* Sacred Seasons of the year when people who honor Mother Earth celebrate each turn of the wheel, each cycle. This is the season between Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice, so there is an element of 'harvest' still going on, however, it is more of a preparation for Winter when Mother Earth rests in part of the world so that She can nourish the other half of the world with Light & Life. Fall Equinox to Samhain is primarily *harvest* time when you assess all that you've built, created and magnetized in the last year. Samhain to Winter Solstice is time to surrender what you've done and look in to what you will create next, based on the work behind you. You are progressing on a Path whether you can physically feel/measure it or not and each release clears space for new growth and each foundation that you lay strengthens you to expand. All of nature is about *Consolidation* and *Expansion* ~ the Ebb & Flow of *LIFE* itself ... it is a useful rhythm to master.

   

(Astrologically, all *8* Sacred Seasons correspond to degrees of the zodiac. Samhain is honored at 15° degrees Scorpio. All planets travel through signs at 30° degree increments. 0°-10° is the initiation of the new expression of energy, 11°-20° is the peak of energy, and 21°-30° is the completion. This is a time when the Scorpio energy, and all it is good for, is strongest. Shadow is equally available, it all depends on your focus and discipline, or lack thereof.)

This 6-week period Completes Scorpio, the lesson of *Creation & Karma* and covers ALL Sagittarius, the lesson of *Faith & the Quest for Knowledge*. This is the time of year when Scorpio reveals what unconscious motivations may have been guiding your choices and in light of any revelations or new information, a Sag/NEW Truth & Story can be born. Scorpio energy awakens the Soul and presents the work that can/will lead to Sagittarius, renewed inner Truth. As you anchor the connection to your own Soul and your own Truth, you're then led to contribute to society in some small yet significant way come Capricorn. Basically, around Scorpio time, you can suddenly be in a completely new, different, not-necessarily-better or worse but different place. In an instant, Plutonian change occurs, either in your mind or physical reality, and life is no longer the same for you. All of sudden (one month to the next very often) what used to be true, is no longer true for you. Don't panic ~ this is the natural order of the Life/Death/Life process inherent on this planet.

   

This is the time *in-between* completion of the old year (2010) and *Initiation* of the new year (2011) at Winter Solstice. For some, this in-between stage is uncomfortable, even scary, but it doesn't have to be. I have found it to be the most *potent* time of year for keeping your own council, pulling away to replenish your Self and reflect on your year. Try to make some time to do this and then the "empty space" between whatever has left your life and the *new* about to manifest, isn't so frightening. It becomes a womb of protection as you surrender that which you were never in control of anyway. And a safe haven to develop the plan/strategy for the next leg of the journey.

  

The Activations this month (planetary transits) speak to new patterns of thought being initiated and plenty of opportunities to expand your consciousness, if you are willing to experiment with new responses to old triggers. There is a deep recalibration going on for all lifeforms and the toughest growth this month will likely manifest between the Fixed energies, holding on to an out-dated, crumbling structure, and the Mutable energies dissolving the boundaries and blockages so evolution can unfold at this next level, which too can be overwhelming. Suddenly there's nothing to hold on to, to count on and you're floating in an ocean of unknowns. These challenges become particularly difficult because much of the struggle is *mental* and *emotional* ~ it's ALL *IDEAS* that are under the pressure of the *squares* to *CHANGE & GROW* or be broken down altogether. My suggestion (and personal practice) is to analyze what *IS* and determine what it's *BEST* for. If you cannot do all that want to do, what CAN you do? These challenges come along to break us of habits we've outgrown and one of those is the pattern of focusing on what is NOT working, rather than working with what IS at hand. If you find yourself hitting the wall, adjust, slow down, look around, what resources are at hand that can assist you and come back later, to the idea that isn't working. Don't waste precious energy forcing your will and at the same time, don't give up too easily. You're psychic/intuitive capacity must be engaged for you to *feel* the *boundaries* of resistance. How much is effective and how much is too much, distracting you and draining your energy?

As Mercury links up with Mars in Sagittarius, creativity abounds but also passions can flare over belief systems which can cause challenges in the world. If you keep this energy personal and focus on what you are creating at this time, it is more likely to be an *Ahh-Ha Moment* of Truth (Sag), which leads to deep transformations later, when Mercury (ideas/thoughts) and Mars (desire/action) move in to Capricorn and link up with Pluto (death, rebirth & transformation) and the Sun (identity/Self) to activate a completely new strategy for living, essentially. Take your time and really marinate things as they present themselves because Mercury is going to Retrograde and ping all these guys again soon enough. The first Activation(s) is more about the awakening to the new possibilities (Nov 2010), Retrograde (Dec 10-30, 2010) will reveal other perspectives and yield additional information so on the third pass (Jan 2011), all can be *seeded* properly. Sag/Capricorn is all about your *Truth and Purpose* and these personal planets will move through relatively quickly, basically, hitting the re-set button for a new annual cycle.

Venus is actively engaged with Pluto for quite some time this year, supporting this prime opportunity to strengthen your inner power (Scorpio) and build something *real* (Capricorn) in your life. New definitions ~ new support ~ new territory all require a new *approach* and these two planets getting together are distilling your motivations and deepening your dedication. Venus rules relationships, values, priorities and how you use your resources to that end. Pluto rules death, rebirth and transformation ~ meaning permanent change. As people and circumstances change, you have to adjust as well. Some people will naturally prefer trying to save a dead-end relationship or a stifling job just because it is familiar and the "unknown" is too scary. While yet others, now liberated from the baggage of the past, will step lightly and by faith, in to this "unknown" encouraged, renewed and hopeful. This Water/Earth contact brings the opportunity for new life (water) to burst forth (earth) in 3D/form (think: Garden) which brings new Life and changes the relating principles. They will also activate Neptune/Chiron in Aquarius, both newly Direct, so you begin to be able to actively apply all that you've learned (and healed) in the last 1-5 years. The remnants of the Healing Trinity continue to laser away anything that doesn't *preserve* life and everyone is getting an opportunity to get an inner alignment before engaging with others on this Higher level. As long as you can own your personal Truth, maintain integrity and not *impose* it on others but respect their Paths as well, then the Sag lesson is being learned well at this time. However, the Shadow of this energy is self-righteous indignation and soapbox preaching.

Now for the next evolution, everyone develop a *NEW* Story-line of their own life now that some major wound(s) has been healed and released. Once these deeper aspects of your Being have been healed and recalibrated, you are no longer the same person. The Truth and Story have both now permanently shifted in to new territory and a new *outline* for what's to come must be developed if you are to co-create with this energy. Squares push you "out of comfort zone / in to new territory". It is the friction that makes you just *uncomfortable* enough, to change. Nov/Dec will reveal a lot that you (and others) have been doing UN-consciously and it won't be easy to face. You are going to have to make some choices about what you believe has happened over the last 12-84 years and what you believe is possible in the coming new cycle that Jupiter and Uranus are activating in 2011. This is major completion-mode and these final *Tests* - which is also what the squares are all about - will reveal your level of development, as well as what you have left to learn (and master).

When Mercury (how you think), Mars (what you want) and Sun (who you are) move through Scorpio, things are changing within you. As they engage the remnants of the Healing Trinity in Aquarius (Neptune/Chiron), you will be *Tested* on if/how well you can actively participate in your own healing process. While in Scorpio, they will also be in a beautiful dance with Jupiter/Uranus completing their journey through Pisces and connecting you to a new level of power within you, as well as a better understanding of the world around you. (See *Blessings* for more on this.) However, when they move in to Sag, your fiery enthusiasm may turn into (or feel like) the overwhelm of what's truly *over* in your life. That's one way to go, the other is the "overwhelm" of all the new possibilities presenting themselves. Wholeness, unity and justice for all is the focus and the possibility of manifesting that can rock you to your core. It's all in your perspective, how you look at things. You'll want to stay centered in your *heart* and feeling nature, rather than getting carried away with ideas and ideals that don't match perfectly. If you can maintain your connection to your own heart, then when these *Tests* pop up, you'll be able to navigate them with more ease, grace and effectiveness.
